Pastel Box Restoration – DIY

Recently, at a moving sale I found a cool pastel box that was in great condition but just needed a bit of cleaning.

Lucky me, I’m married to a sign and graphic artist with an accumulation of solvents and tools in his shop. At first I tried a simple pencil eraser to remove the writing on top of the box. It worked on a small part, but not the rest. Next I pulled on gloves and tried denatured alcohol. That worked pretty well but to really clean up the top of the box I needed to use a sander. Below, you can see the finished pieces.

Now it’s time to organize some pastels!
