On May 20th, the Vista and Vineyards plein air group met at the Albany Carouselbuilding where I eventually settled to paint one of the vintage horses they had on display in their gift shop and museum. Before that I wandered around admiring some of the other animals.
As you can see, many are in different stages of completion. After making sure it was okay to set up in the museum, I went to work drawing “my” horse. As soon as I had everything set up, I had to leave, since a board meeting was starting momentarily, and for some reason I wasn’t invited. I spent the next hour refining my sketch and then started a second drawing of a greyhound carousel animal.
Once the meeting was over, I moved back in and started painting.
I then finished up “Painted Pony” at home in my studio. It is available to purchase at my Art In The Valley Gallery. Next up I’ll share the greyhound watercolor step-by-step. Let me know in the comments section if you have any questions about either painting!
