For a couple of weeks now, I’ve been watching the latest crop of poppies, waiting for the first to pop. They’re one of my favorite flowers, a deep, intense, pure red that’s pretty difficult to capture with photography, so once they bloom, it’s time to paint as many as I can before they drop their petals and disappear for another year.
It’s going to be a good year – 11 buds on one plant. My canvases are ready and I’m just waiting now…
